Find the right neighborhood and nearby hotels in three steps.

  3. View hotels by area

See nearby hotels in the part of the city that fits your trip.

Our Methodology: How We Map Neighborhoods & Select Hotels

Where to Stay is visitor-oriented travel guidance — not a safety map, not live crime data, and not a guarantee of conditions on the ground. Here is how we build each city guide.

Data-driven neighborhood mapping

We align editorial stay-area guides to real geospatial boundaries — administrative districts, OpenStreetMap neighborhoods, and other verified polygon sources — rather than hand-drawn shapes. Each area is reviewed against travel research on hotel density, transport links, dining and nightlife, sightseeing access, and general practicality for short stays.

“Recommended for stays” criteria

Areas earn the green Recommended for stays label when they combine strong visitor infrastructure: reliable public transport or walkability, access to major sights and services, a healthy choice of hotels, and a track record as a common base for travellers. It does not mean every street is ideal — location within the area still matters.

Hotel filtering on the map

When you select travel dates, hotel listings are fetched dynamically from live search and plotted on the map by coordinates. You can narrow results with budget, minimum guest-rating, and stay-area filters so you focus on well-reviewed options in the neighborhood that fits your trip — without leaving the map.

Editorial quality & transparency

City guides are maintained as draft editorial research with periodic review. We document data sources, flag areas that need extra visitor judgment, and update boundaries when better open-data matches become available. Always cross-check recent local advice before you book.

Message us
What is Where to Stay?
Where to Stay helps you choose a better hotel location before you book. It combines neighborhood maps, visitor guidance, and nearby hotels so you can compare areas in a city more easily.
How do I choose the best area to stay?
Start with the kind of trip you want. For a first visit, central neighborhoods with good transport, restaurants, and easy access to main sights usually work best. If you care more about nightlife, beaches, budget, or a quieter stay, compare areas on the map before choosing a hotel. Once you pick an area, browse nearby hotels on the map and filter by budget, guest rating, and stay-area fit to match your travel style.
Are these maps showing safe and unsafe areas?
No. Where to Stay is not a safety or crime map. The area guidance is meant to help with hotel location, convenience, transport, nightlife level, visitor fit, and how practical an area may be for a short stay. Always check recent local advice and use normal travel precautions.
What does “recommended for stays” mean?
“Recommended for stays” means an area is generally practical for visitors looking for hotels. These areas often have a useful mix of transport, restaurants, sights, hotel options, or a good base for exploring the city. It does not mean every street or hotel in the area is perfect. Each city guide labels areas as Recommended for stays, Use extra caution, or Less recommended for visitors — based on how suitable they are for short-term hotel stays, not live crime statistics or safety guarantees.
How are neighborhoods and areas selected?
Areas are selected based on visitor usefulness, hotel density, transport access, sightseeing convenience, restaurants, nightlife level, and how suitable the area is as a base for different types of trips. We use real neighborhood or administrative boundaries where possible and avoid fake map shapes.
Does Where to Stay cover every neighborhood?
No. The goal is not to label every part of a city. We focus on areas that are most useful for visitors choosing where to stay. Some neighborhoods may be skipped if they are not relevant for hotel search or if clean map boundaries are not available.
Why isn’t my city available yet?
City coverage is limited for now, but we are adding new destinations regularly. We prioritize places where choosing the right neighborhood can make a big difference for visitors.
